Data logger builds on NI technology 01/02/2007

Despite advances in virtual product development, real validation in vehicles and on test-benches is still necessary. To this end, AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik has developed a data acquisition platform based on National Instruments technology.

4Log incorporates the latest field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology and is an integral part of the current AFT 4Measure product line. It is said to have several advantages over existing datalogging systems. The platform is compact, robust and modular, making upgrades cost-effective.
The 4Log platform uses National Instruments CompactRIO programmable automation controllers, which contain embedded FPGA for data acquisition and control. The FPGA was programmed with National Instruments LabVIEW graphical development software.
Four- and eight-slot chassis support a range of NI CompactRIO, analogue I/O, digital I/O, serial and SD cards, ensuring optimum scalability for each application. AFT has developed additional components, including special CAN and power control modules, to meet the data processing demands of mobile automotive measurement equipment.
