Atmel says its ATA6662 standalone LIN bus transceiver IC has the industry’s best EMC performance (EMC test and conformance test LIN2.0, Europe, and SAE J2602-2, US) as a result using its high-voltage BCD-on-SOI (SMARTIS) process.
The device’s excellent ESD protection (exceeding 6kV) is beneficial in the design of robust electronic units for the automotive environment.
The ATA6662 complies with the LIN2.0 standard and can handle supply voltages of up to 40V. The fully integrated LIN transceiver interfaces the LIN protocol handler (the local microcontroller) and the LIN bus. Improved slope control at the LIN bus ensures secure data communication of up to 20kBaud using an RC oscillator for the protocol handling. A sleep mode minimises current consumption to typically 10µA.
Atmel’s SMARTIS process uses an SOI (silicon-on-insulator) substrate. This results in an extremely low leakage current with a significant reduction in crosstalk between analogue and digital circuits on the same die, as well as latch-up-free operation at high temperatures. Lower parasitic effects give added value for EMC performance.
• Atmel’s new monolithically integrated ATA6264 airbag system power supply IC especially suited for high-end automotive airbag applications. The device, manufactured in high-voltage 0.8µm BCD technology, provides interesting features, such as measures against undervoltage conditions and battery cable loss, intelligent power sequencing, integrated watchdog and other diagnostic/monitoring functions. Communication with the microcontroller is carried out via a 16-bit SPI, while two ISO9141 interfaces enable the communication with diagnostic testers. One of these interfaces can be customer-programmed as a LIN interface.
