Opto-couplers target hybrids 01/04/2007

Avago Technologies has introduced what is said to be the industry’s first automotive-grade 10MBd digital interface opto-coupler.

The high speed ACPL-M61T device is also said to support the networking, communication and system management requirements of hybrid electric vehicles.

Wide temperature support (–40ºC to +125ºC) makes the ACPL-M61T ideal for implementation in CANbus vehicle communication networks, battery management systems, safety and infotainment applications in all vehicles, including electric hybrids. The product adheres to AECQ100 guidelines.

Due to the high number of electrical components in hybrid vehicles, opto-isolation products play a key role in their optimal performance.
The ACPL-M61T comes with an enhanced LED (5mA) for lower driving current and lower power consumption. The high-speed digital opto-coupler also has an enhanced wire bonding processes and an improved lead frame for added reliability and better heat dissipation.
